The Høvel rebuilt for Blackwing in black anodised aluminium — lighter than the brass original and finished in Blackwing's matte black. Same planing action: wood is shaved back from the core so the user shapes the point rather than accepting a fixed one. Supplied on a black-dyed wooden base that catches shavings.
