These squares and pencils are made from natural pigments (iron oxide, carbon black, titanium dioxide), clay (kaolin) and a binder (cellulosic ether). The rich pigment content gives a unique soft texture and intense finish.

This complete metal box contains: 1 Sanguine pencil, 1 Sepia pencil, 1 White pencil, 1 Charcoal pencil 2B, 1 Black Stone pencil 3B, 1 Graphite pencil 2B, 1 Carbon pencil 3B, 1 Bistre sketch square.
1 Sanguine Medici sketch square, 1 Sanguine XVIII sketch square, 1 Sanguine sketch square, 1 White 2B sketch square, 1 Black Chalk sketch square 2B.

The leads of the Sanguine, Black and White Conté squares in Paris are slightly softer than those of the pencils. As their name suggests, a simple sketch or a whole mono or polychrome work can be made with these Carrés Conté in Paris.

The sanguine is commonly used in sketches to sketch the body. For a more elaborate work, it is advisable to add Black Chalk to accentuate the contrasts and White Pencil to highlight the areas of light on the body.

Its color is a deep red, varying on rust, The Medici blood pencil offers a darker shade reminiscent of Renaissance red chalk, and brings diversity.

The eighteenth-century Sanguine pencil is particularly intense and above all luminous, with a small hint of orange.

The graduations range from H (Hard) for hardness to B (Bold) for softness. The higher the number, the harder or softer the pencil.
