PRODUCT DETAILS

Modroc is a plaster-impregnated bandage for making masks, moulds and forming contours for model railways etc.  When used as a medium for Sculptors, modroc is extremely versatile and can be used to create 3D models of large objects, when used in conjunction with an armature.

Soak the modroc roll in room temperature water for about 5 seconds until it is saturated or the bubbles stop rising.  Gently squeeze out excess water from the bandage and then gently wrap (not tightly) or drape the bandage over and around the frame or object, layer upon layer.

Use your hands to shape the bandage during wrapping in order to make it adhere and to remove bubbles and cavities.  When it begins to harden the shaping process should stop.

Normal setting time is 2-5 minutes but can be accelerated slightly by using warmer water or after layering, a hair dryer or heater.  You can also slow down setting by around 4 minutes by using cooler water.

Tip:

Add Creative House PVA to the water (approximately 1 part PVA to 3 parts water) to increase the strength of the structure and make the finished article more receptive to paint.
